SECOND INTERNATIONAL ELT CONFERENCE

The Preparatory School and Departmental English Language Studies Unit (DELSU) take great pleasure in announcing their 2^nd International ELT Conference, “Golden Implementations to Enable Students’ Productive Skills to Flourish”, to be held on Atılım University campus on Saturday April 19, 2008. The University, the conference committee, the presenters, and the fellow instructors look forward to seeing you at this ELT conference.

We will welcome the chance to talk your ears off with our perspectives on teaching the productive skills in English, namely speaking and writing, as these are the teaching and learning components that most concern us. This is very familiar to you all, we know, but it has always been an area of critical importance to all of us in this EFL, ESL business. With this aim in mind, the conference will be focusing on the current applications in improving the productive skills in an English medium university in Turkey. We feel that universities and high schools should keep in close touch with each other to ensure quality tuition in terms of teaching and learning effective communication in English, both oral and written.

The conference is going to be a one-day occasion with 3 keynote speakers supported by 7 speakers from our institution.

The conference will feature speaking issues in the morning and writing issues in the afternoon. A raffle and a closing cocktail will be held after the closing remarks. Following this, certificates will be distributed to all participants.

We strongly believe that the combination of the keynote speakers’ insights into current theory and the Atılım University instructors’ sharing of their classroom experiences will provide new perspectives and renewed enthusiasm, but the most important factor in the realisation of the aims of this conference is your valuable presence.

The conference poster and a booklet covering the conference programme, the speakers’ bio data, abstracts of the speeches and information about the service bus schedule to and from our university will be delivered to your office address and can be viewed on our website in the coming days.
